Current situation of wind power generation industry

(1) Development starts. Since the early 1980s, China has regarded small-scale wind power generation as one of the measures to achieve rural electrification, mainly researching, developing, and demonstrating the application of small-scale charging wind turbines for farmers to use one by one. The technology of units below 1 kW has matured and been widely promoted, forming an annual production capacity of 10000 units. Every year, 5000 to 8000 units are sold domestically, and more than 100 units are exported abroad. It can produce small wind turbines of 100, 150, 200, 300, and 500W, as well as 1, 2, 5, and 10 kW in bulk, with an annual production capacity of over 30000 units. The products with the highest sales volume are 100-300W. In remote areas where the power grid cannot reach, approximately 600000 residents use wind energy to achieve electrification. As of 1999, China has produced a total of 185700 small wind turbines, ranking first in the world.

(2) The development, research and production units engaged in small-scale wind power generation industry are constantly expanding. Since China’s first “Renewable Energy Law” was passed at the 14th National People’s Congress on February 28, 2005, new opportunities have emerged in the development and application of renewable energy, with 70 units engaged in the research, development, and production of small-scale wind power generation industry. Among them, there are 35 colleges and research institutes, 23 production enterprises, and 12 supporting enterprises (including storage batteries, blades, inverter controllers, etc.).

(3) There has been a new increase in the production, output, and profit of small wind turbines. According to the statistics of 23 production enterprises in 2005, a total of 33253 small wind turbines with independent operation below 30kW were produced, an increase of 34.4% compared to the previous year. Among them, 24123 units were produced with 200W, 300W, and 500W units, accounting for 72.5% of the total annual output. The unit capacity was 12020kW, with a total output value of 84.72 million yuan and a profit and tax of 9.929 million yuan. In 2006, it is expected that the small wind power industry will have significant growth in terms of output, output value, profits and taxes.

(4) The number of export sales has increased, and the international market is optimistic. In 2005, 15 units exported 5884 small wind turbines, an increase of 40.7% over the previous year, and earned 2.827 million dollars in foreign exchange, mainly to 24 countries and regions, including the Philippines, Vietnam, Pakistan, North Korea, Indonesia, Poland, Myanmar, Mongolia, South Korea, Japan, Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States, the Netherlands, Chile, Georgia, Hungary, New Zealand, Belgium, Australia, South Africa, Argentina, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

(5) The scope of promotion and application is constantly expanding. In addition to traditional users in rural and pastoral areas who use small wind turbines for lighting and watching TV, due to the skyrocketing prices of gasoline, diesel, and kerosene, and the lack of smooth supply channels, users in inland areas, rivers, fishing boats, border checkpoints, troops, meteorology, microwave stations, and other areas who use diesel for power generation are gradually switching to wind power generation or wind solar complementary power generation. In addition, small wind turbines are also installed in ecological and environmental parks, shaded paths, villa courtyards, and other places as landscapes for people to enjoy and relax.
